Escape to Bohol

Whenever summer comes along, most beachcombers tend to think of Boracay or Puerto Galera as the places to go to for a fun-filled time at the beach. While those places are deserving of their reputation as excellent summer vacation spots, there are lots of other places in the Philippines that are just as interesting and exciting, and are worth checking out, too. If you're the type who wants more than the usual partying nightlife by the beach, you might want to try Bohol.

Just starting to emerge as an ideal place for discovery and adventure, Bohol has lots to offer the wide-eyed child in all of us. Aside from being famous for their Chocolate Hills and cute, shy tarsiers, which are already givens as must-sees when you visit the island, Bohol has several other natural wonders just waiting to be explored.

At the many beaches alone that have yet to be fully commercialized, there are already plenty of exciting things one can do. You can go whale and dolphin watching in Pamalican Island, snorkeling and scuba-diving at the countless dive spots and see the vibrant marine life up-close, or try your hand at some water sports.

If you're in the mood for some land-based adventure, you can go island-hopping, admire the limestone hills, go through the Loboc River and marvel at the majestic falls there, or visit the numerous caves and bring out the spelunker in you. For sure, nature lovers will never run out of things to rave about in these tours around the island.

Of course, it would also be nice to have a place to relax after all that exploring all over Bohol. There are several ideal places to choose from, but if you're willing to splurge a little on your vacation, the Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa in Panglao would be a good place to take note of. This Bohol resort , located at the southern tip of the island which is known for its white sand beaches, takes pride in allowing vacationers to privately relax at their infinity pool or pamper themselves with their rejuvenating spa service after having had their fill of adventure for the day.

Should you ever feel the urge to go thrill-seeking again, they offer dive packages and sightseeing tours that you can avail of and arrange upon arrival at the resort. They also have sufficient facilities for you to play beach volleyball, badminton, pingpong, or even water sports like jet skiing. Whether it's rest and rejuvenation or adventures you're after, the Eskaya caters to both those needs.

Indeed, the possibilities are endless once you've stepped foot on Bohol. So, what are you waiting for? Get thee packin'!
